英文摘要Infectious diseases remain a significant challenge in the field of public health. In recent years, the second nearinfrared (NIR-II) window fluorescence imaging has shown tremendous potential in the early diagnosis and integrated treatment of infectious diseases, owing to its superior deep-tissue penetration, high-resolution imaging, and low background autofluorescence. Among the various NIR-II fluorescence probes, small organic molecules have emerged as a promising tool for combating pathogens due to their excellent biocompatibility, tunability, and ease of functionalization. This review provides a comprehensive overview of the latest advancements in small-molecule-based NIR-II fluorescence imaging technology for the study of infectious diseases. It highlights molecular design strategies and their applications in the diagnosis and treatment of infections. Additionally, the key challenges, potential opportunities, and future research directions in this burgeoning field are critically analyzed to foster further advancements in this transformative area.
