英文摘要

Qamdo Block of eastern Tibet, China was one of the allochthonous blocks within the Palaeotethys orogenic belt during the Devonian. From the Early to Late Devonian, the Qamdo Block was dominated by littoral sandstone and shallow marine sediments that preserved diverse benthic faunas. To investigate the brachiopod faunas and their biogeographical affinities to South China and other regions, we collected additional brachiopod specimens from the Jueyong section, Nuoma section, and Toba section in Qamdo region. This study concentrates on the Middle to Late Devonian (Givetian to Famennian) brachiopod faunas from the region. Our results indicate that cosmopolitan atrypid brachiopods (Desquamatia, Pseudoatrypa, Variatrypa) dominated during the Middle Devonian, whereas the Upper Devonian assemblages were increasingly comprised of Cathaysian and European groups such as cyrtospiriferids (Cyrtospirifer, Cyrtiopsis) and rhynchonellides (Ptychomaletoechia, Yunnanella). Palaeobiogeographically, the Qamdo fauna maintained broad links with that of the South China Block in the Middle Devonian. The connections intensified in the Frasnian and Famennian between the Qamdo and South China blocks and manifested by the CA and PCA analyses, despite global trends towards more cosmopolitan benthic assemblages. Our findings underscore a significant transition from cosmopolitan to distinct Cathaysian affinities in the Qamdo brachiopod fauna, suggesting close proximity between the Qamdo and South China blocks during the Late Devonian, and providing new insight into the palaeogeographic evolution of the Tibet Plateau.
