The genus Coptocheilus Gould, 1862 (family Pupinidae Pfeiffer, 1853) comprises nearly 20 extant species, yet its fossil record is scarce, with specimens preserved in amber being exceptionally rare. Coptocheilus electrothauma (Asato and Hirano, 2019) is a typical example of such amber-preserved fossils. Herein, we describe new material of the type species of Coptocheilus from Kachin amber, based on an integrative morphological approach that combines light microscopy with micro-CT scanning and computational 3D reconstruction. Furthermore, by synthesizing our new material with published data, we provide a comprehensive review of the diagnostic characteristics of Coptocheilus and a morphological comparison of its constituent species.
