中文摘要A giant strain of magnetic field-controlled shape memory behavior in Ni52.5Mn23.5Ga24 upon the martensitic transition has been reported. The single crystalline samples exhibit a external stress-free two way shape memory with a strain of -1.2% and a magnetic field-enhanced strain up to -4.0%. A shape memory device made from this material can be controlled in expanding, shrinking or non-deformation upon the transition by changing the strength and direction of applied field. A six-stroke shape-memory device may become possible by using a multi-pole electromagnet. Utilizing the intermartensitic transition, the elastic deformation energy generated by the main martensitic and intermartensitic transitions can be stored in a self-accommodation state. The release of this elastic energy can creates an unsymmetrical two-way shape memory with a huge strain up to 10%.
