Neutron diffraction study of the magnetic structure of Pr6Fe11Al3

中文摘要Neutron powder diffraction patterns have been collected from Pr6Fe11Al3 over the temperature range from 20 to 480 K. The patterns display antiferromagnetic ordering below T-N similar to 260 K. The magnetic cell is derived from the atomic cell by halving along the c-axis around the planes of Al atoms. Within each 1/2 cell the coupling is ferromagnetic and planar, and the two halves couple antiferromagnetically. Assuming collinear ferromagnetic coupling within each 1/2 cell, Rietveld analysis gives saturation moments of 1.28(3)mu(B)/atom for Fe and 2.38(7)mu(B)/atom for Pr. The analysis also reveals unusual thermal expansion along the c-axis below T-N, related to changes in the interplanar spacings around the Al planes. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V.
