中文摘要Systems of alternating ultra-thin magnetic and non-magnetic metal layers are of fundamental and practical interest, for example, in connection with the giant magnetoresistance effect (GMR). Scanning force microscopy (SFM), Auger electron spectroscopy (AES) were employed to analyse the superstructure of Fe/Mo multilayer systems and their surface roughness. Shallow craters created by Xe-ion sputtering were mapped using AES and, for the first time, by SFM to reveal the superstructure of the Fe/Mo multilayer. The roughness of the outermost layer, as analysed by SFM, exhibits a strong temperature dependence.
