中文摘要我所泥石流研究室是1972年正式建立的。但从建所开始,泥石流研究一直是我所的主攻方向。1978年,全国科学大会和全国自然科学学科规划会后,中国科学院兰州冰川冻土研究所泥石流室大部分科技人员与我所泥石流室合并,我室成为全国第一个人员最多、力量最强、方向明确、体制健全、仪器设备配套、面向全国的研究室。 廿年来,我所泥石流室的科研人员,与院内外许多兄弟单位协作,对西藏、云南、甘肃、青海、陕西、宁夏、福建、江西、河南、新疆、北京、河北、辽宁、吉林和和广东等省区的泥石流进行了考察、观测试验和治理。
英文摘要Debris Flow Research Division of Chengdu Institute of Geography was officically established in 1972. After amalgamation of Debris Flow Division at the Lanzhou Institute of Glaciology and Cryopedology, which is the other institute of Chinese Academy cf Sciences, and ours into one in 1978, it has been in fact China’s first special corporation for debris flow research with the most personnel and the strongest technical capacity.The main tasks of our division are as follows:1.to make investigations, observations and experimental studies on debris flow;2.to get a clear understanding of the regular distribution law, the activity characteristics, the harm situation and the evolution tendency of debris flow in our country;3.to keep informed the formation mechanism,the movement features and the mechanical characteristics of debris flow and its erosion and accumulation patterns as well so that we could be able to establish the theoretical system of debris flow and to develop this discipline in our country.Meanwhile, we make vigorous contributions forecast and calculate the occurence of debris flow, and also to be engaged in some comprehensive harnessing of debris flows to ensure that large-scale construction projects of engineering in the major developing areas could be prevented from the disasters of debris flow and the safety of the life and property could be guaranteed for the people in mountainous region. On the basis of solving problems for national productions and construe- tions and going deep into the practices of prevention and harnessing of debris flows,the academic level of debris flow research at our division has constantly been raised.There are, at present, fifty-four staffs working with our division, which is divided into three special research groups: Regional Debris Flow, Debris Flow Mechanics and Debris Flow Prevention, with some affiliations such as Dynamics and Simulation Testing Center, Statics Analysis Room and Colloid Chemistry Experimental Room. In addition, a semi-automatic field observation has basically been built and a number of specialized instruments for debris flow observation have also been developed successfully. Throughout its twenty-year history, we have accumulated a large number investigation, observation, analysis and experiment materials which relates to the occurence, development, harmfulness, movement, accumulation features and hydrostatic features of debris flow in China; harnessed various debris flow gullies which seriously endangered the traffics and residental areas; completed various specialized theses and works in the discipline; sponsored several symposia on debris flow in a nationwide and published volumes of academic articles and some nonperiodic journals on debris flow and so on. In the meantime, we have been integrating the prevention of debris flow with the distruction of mountain ecology balance, with the process of mountain desertization and even with the protection of environment. The notable social and economic benefit has been achieved by unified planning and synthetic harnessing. Moreover, the international exchanges of our division with other countries are expanding beyond the bilateral vocational and academic connections with more than dozen of countries such as Austria, Japan, New Zealand, Soviet Union, United Kingdom, United States and West Germany, to a more general and systematic multilateral cooperations with UNESCO and UNEP. In brief, we have laid a sound foundation of technology and material for further studies on debris flow.Therefore, Debris Flow Research Division, at current stage, has already been a special organization with a fairly high level and plentiful prevention experiences, which can be independently engaged in academic researches and prevention projects.It has led to an establishment of debris flow research system in China and made the debris flow science become a new and young applied interdiscipline.
