中文摘要 | Poor strength and excessive fine particle content of AI(OH)3 remain the major problems to be solved in the Sinter Process for sandy alumina production. A systematic study was made of the effects and mechanism of several organic additives on product median diameter and attrition index quantitatively and on the crystal morphology of gibbsite qualitatively. It has been determined that some additives at certain concentration can significantly decrease the fine particle size content, improve the product strength and modify gibbsite crystal morphology acting as crystal habit modifier such as the additive SA3. It increases AI(OH)3 median size by 12 gm at 200 mg/L, at the same time decreases the mass fraction of particles < 45 < m and the attrition index by 17% and 10% respectively. The increased particle size and improved strength can be linked to the changes of structure and shape of gibbsite crystals. The crystal morphologies indicate that additives can accelerate the aggregation and inter-growth of crystal units, as a result the gibbsite presents an inlaid crystal structure close to globular shape. |
