Synthesis of alpha-layered sodium disilicate and its tribological properties in liquid paraffin

| 英文摘要 | A high purity a-layered sodium disilicate (alpha-Na(2)Si(2)O(5)) has been synthesized by employing a mixture of 84% alpha-Na(2)Si(2)O(5) and 16% delta-Na(2)Si(2)O(5) as seed, and characterized by XRD, (29)Si MAS NMR, FT-IR, SEM and TG. The experimental data showed that a-layered sodium disilicate may been synthesized by adding 15% seed at 780 degrees C for 120 minutes. The lubrication of the synthesized sample was investigated. Adding alpha-Na(2)Si(2)O(5) in liquid paraffin, the P(B) value increased by 19.9%. The results indicated that oleic acid may pillar alpha-layered sodium disilicate. The reaction may increase the separation of layers. An increasing layer distance will be propitious for the glide of silicon layers and improve lubrication ability. |
