Effect of Fe promoter on activity of Rh-Mn-Li/SiO2 catalyst for CO hydrogenation to oxygenates

英文摘要 | the influence of fe promoter on the catalytic properties of the rh-mn-li/sio2 catalyst for c-2-oxygenate synthesis from co hydrogenation was investigated. the catalysts were characterized by means of temperature-programmed reduction (tpr), temperature-programmed desorption of co (co-tpd), and pulse adsorption of co techniques. the results showed that the addition of fe, mn, and li promoters could improve the catalyst activity and selectivity toward g-oxygenates. unexpectedly, the yield of c2+-oxygenates increased greatly from 331.6 g/(kg-h) to 457.5 g/(kg-h) when a little fe (0.05%) was added into the rh-mn-li/sio2 catalyst, while the selectivity for c2+-oxygenates did not change. however, the catalytic activity and selectivity for c2+-oxygenates greatly decreased when the fe loading exceeded a certain value. it was found from tpr experiments that the lower temperature reduction peak moved to a higher temperature, while the higher one shifted to a lower temperature, the area of both peaks increased when the fe loading was within the range of 0.05% similar to 0.5%. these results indicated that the addition of a small amount of fe could inhibit the reduction of the rh precursor, while the reduction of the fe component itself appeared to become easier. all of above observation allows us to propose that fe would be in close touch with rh and mn, which contributed to the high c-2-oxygenates yield. when the amount of fe exceeded 1.0%, a new peak at 522 k in the tpr profiles appeared and it was ascribed to the fe reduction. we concluded that there was some segregated fe existed on the rh surface. co uptake decreased with increasing amount of fe. the co-tpd results also showed that the existence of 0.05similar to0.5% of fe increased the strongly adsorbed co species, while the amount of strongly adsorbed co species decreased with increase in fe loading. |
