The objective of this study is to investigate the effect of solid and liquid lubrication on friction and wear performance of selected solid lubricating coatings  comparative experiments have been carried out on magnetron sputtered MoS2 coatings against Si3N4 ball using a ball-on-disk tribo-tester under the conditions of room temperature and different lubrication. Surface morphology of coatings were investigated by atom force microscope (AFM)  and friction coefficient (COF) and wear rate of solid films were also be analyzed. It was shown that the friction is greatly reduced when the solid film is lubricated with oil and grease simultaneously in comparison with single-lubricant lubrication at the start-up or under boundary lubrication conditions. Liquid lubrication causes a dramatic decrease of the wear-ability of the MoS2 coatings. The effect of oil lubrication to the deterioration of wear resistance of MoS2 film was even worse than lubrication grease. (2013) Trans Tech Publications  Switzerland.

La62Al14Cu12Ni12BMG is introduced as a substitute for silicon which was widely used as mold material for nanofabrication. For the purpose of precise microstructure replication and complete filling  effects of various imprint parameters  including imprint temperature  imprint time and compression load  on formability of La 62Al14Cu12Ni12BMG are studied and discussed. Scanning electron microscope images and results of thermal analysis are used to characterize the filling effect of La62Al 14Cu12Ni12BMG. In particular  correlations between time and thermodynamic properties are presented. Despite of its high viscosity at crystallization temperature and its narrow supercooled liquid region  La62Al14Cu12Ni12BMG is proved to be a durable and promising material which can precisely replicate the patterns of silicon mold and then transfer its own patterns on Ce 69Al10Cu20Co1BMG and PMMA. 2012 Elsevier B.V. A series of NaYF4: Yb3+  Er3+ nanoparticles with different doping concentration were successfully prepared by the combination of coprecipitation and hydrothermal methods using sodium citrate as chelator. Upconversion luminescence can be observed in all of the samples at room temperature. Fixed the Er3+ concentration with 1 mol% unchanged  the effect of the Yb3+ concentration on the upconversion luminescence of NaYF4: Yb3+  Er3+ samples were studied when the doped Yb3+ concentrations were 0 mol%  1 mol%  2 mol%  5 mol%  10 mol% and 20 mol%  respectively. As increasing the Yb 3+ concentration  the total intensity of the upconversion luminescence of the samples is increasing while the ratio of red to green emission increases firstly and then decreases. The maximum ratio value is 22.1 when the Yb3+ concentration is 10 mol%. It is found that the cross relaxation and cooperative sensitization effect are the reasons for the phenomenon above. A 50mm focal length  F/1.25  Gaussian type optical system is designed in this paper  which has 20field of view. Actual star image adding optical cross-talk effect of CMOS(Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor)  detector is simulated by non-sequential ray tracing in ZEMAX optical design and analysis software to evaluate its performance. The distortion relative to image spot centriod is introduced and calculated by simulated star images  which is less than 0.03% of lens in this paper. Thermal adaptability is discussed by opt-mechanic thermal analysis  which shows the RMS spot radius of marginal filed changes less than 0.7m under 10C temperature gradient  and changes less than 1m during homogeneous temperature changing from 40C to 40C. The results of analyses and simulations show the design of this lens can achieve the requirement of high precision CMOS star sensor well. 2011 IEEE.

A reimaging F/1.0 long-wavelength infrared optical system is proposed. The design has a flexible opto-mechanical layout. The design process is as follows. Firstly  the catadioptric reimaging system consists of two reflecting mirrors and a relay lenses. Two reflecting mirrors make up of the first imaging system and are therefore free of chromatic aberrations  while low dispersion lenses were used in the reimaging system  so the optical system do not need achromatic design for a high image quality. Then  to correct high-order aberrations resulting from large relative aperture  more parameters need to be used with aspheric or diffractive surfaces due to modern optic technology development. Here  aspheric is selected for easily manufacture. Finally  the design is completed with the help of ZEMAX software. The effective focal length of the objective is 120mm and the field of view (FOV) is 4. The simulated final design shows adequate image quality and the modulation transfer function (MTF) is close to diffraction limit. The effect of the surrounding environmental temperature is analyzed using the concept of thermal defocusing  and the thermal compensation is discussed. 2011 Copyright Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE).
