Based on the refraction theory of the lens
the SU-8 photoresist hard X-ray hourglass lenses with three different structure parameters are fabricated. The mask-back exposure technique is introduced to fabricate the lenses. The focusing performance of this device is tested at Beijing Synchrotron Radiation Facility (BSRF). At the distance of 1.65m from the lenses
an obviously focusing performance in one dimension is observed. The relative intensity of the lenses with the largest gain is about 217.7
the gain of the lens is about 1.15
and the dimension of the focus is about 33m. The focusing performance of this device can be improved through the developing of the mask-back exposure technique. 2009 Trans Tech Publications

Whispering-Gallery-Mode (WGM) photonic crystal microcavity is a kind of photonic crystal application and can potentially be used for miniaturized photonic devices
such as thresholdless lasers. In this paper we study the WGM of photonic crystal microcavities focusing on the so called H2 cavities which are formed by removing seven air holes. The WGM in these large-size cavities has some advantages compared with single defect WGM in the view of real device applications. We further add a central air hole in the cavity region to analyze the effect on WGM in the microcavity by finite difference time domain (FDTD) and plane wave expansion (PWE). It is found that the tolerance of WGM is large enough for the fabrication of electrical injection structure. 2008 SPIE.

A novel auto-focusing technique using a self imaging approach is developed for an aerospace camera having large aperture and long focus. Its optical system consists of an emitting system
receiving system
and two penta-prisms. Emitting system has three parts: a light source
beamsplitter
and aim slit. The receiving system includes a field lens
two separate lenses
and CCD. Using two little penta-prisms instead of a large planar mirror makes the autofocus system simple and compact. CCD was used as photoelectric converting device. A defocused signal is acquired by measuring the change of the two slit self-images position imaged on the CCD. A simple and compact construction of the auto-focusing system was proposed. The algorithm to calculate the moving of the slit-self images position was analyzed in order to achieve subpixel position estimation. The results of the experiments show a 10m focusing precision. The system demonstrates high resolution
easy adjustment and high reliability.

A theoretical method of focusing X-rays by the compound X-ray refractive lens is presented in this paper. The authors report their resent theoretical results including the material selection and structure parameters for such a device. As an example
a compound X-ray refractive lens with PMMA material is designed. The detailed fabrication process of the PMMA compound lens by LIGA technology is described. Moreover
some measured results by means of SEM are also shown. The structure height of one of the PMMA compound lens is measured to be 500m.
