This paper presents a parametric optimization approach to solve reentry guidance. Due to the various constraints imposed on the trajectory
original guidance problem can be converted into an optimal control problem with a merit function to be minimized. Direct implementation of method of variation and is too complex to get a reasonable result
while a numerical parametric optimization approach is feasible and efficient if we choose appropriate control variables as the optimization parameters and effective optimization algorithm. A simulation of the approach is performed to show its validity on reentry guidance problem: as the value of merit function converges to acceptable threshold

As a result of supercavitating projectiles with high underwater velocity
their structures undergo high longitudinal force. It is necessary to perform structure buckling load interval analysis because the uncertainty of structural own parameters should be considered. Critical buckling load of supercavitating projectiles is calculated by Galerkin method. The partial matrixes of critical buckling load implicit function to each uncertainty variable are deduced
and the interval of structure critical buckling load is calculated by interval analysis and convex model methods. Numerical results show that the nominal value
lower and upper bounds of critical buckling load increase with the increment of the ratio of base diameter to cavitator diameter. And the uncertainty degree of basic variables should be controlled as far as possible in the project for high reliability. 2011 IEEE.

To avoid the loss of image information when it is transferred through optical sparse aperture system with excessively diluted apertures arrangement
we propose a method in the frequency domain termed characteristic triangle to calculate the minimum fill factor. This method is based on the characteristics of MTF and demonstrates that when the characteristic triangle is equilateral with each side 3th power of sub-MTF cutoff frequency
MTF has no zero value below cutoff frequency
thus we can obtain the minimum fill factor. Furthermore
we apply it to some typical sparse arrays
such as Golay3
Golay6
Ring6 and Tri-arm7
and get their fill factors of 33.33%
15.16%
30.11%
and 11.14% correspondingly
which are consistent with numerical results. 2011 IEEE.

Microstructure fiber is a new kind of optical fiber. An arrangement of air holes running along the full length of the fiber provides the confinement and guidance of light. The light is confined in the silica core along the fiber axis. This fiber has endlessly single mode
special dispersion characteristics and so on. Using a vectorial effective-index numerical method
we investigated the dispersion characteristics of a microstructure fiber with honeycomb cladding structures. The dispersion
dispersion slope
and Kappa parameter can be designed neatly by changing the air hole size and the separation of the holes in fiber cladding. We demonstrated the Microstructure fiber with large absolute value of normal dispersion and negative dispersion slope at the wavelength of 1550nm. Conventional communication non-shifted single-mode fibers and nonzero-dispersion shifted fibers (NZ-DSF) can be compensated efficiently using the microstructure fiber at the wavelength around 1550nm.
