A compact all fiber Q-switched fiber laser based on an Er/Yb co-doped fiber (EYDF) is demonstrated. Two Bragg gratings (FBGl and FBG2) were employed as the cavity mirrors. The Average output power
single pulse energy and pulse width of the fiber laser at different pumping powers and different repetition rates was studied. The output spectrum of the fiber laser is 0.5 nm. At maximum launched pump power of 558mW
pulse energy of about 50J and duration of 140ns was obtained at the repetition of 2 kHz.

The synchronization control technique is one of the most key techniques in the laser range gated (LRG) imaging system. Conventional control circuits are composed of discrete components and Medium Scale Integration (MSI) and Small Scale Integration (SSI)
which have bad reliability and poor ability of anti-interference. The idea of using the Complex Programmable Logic Device (CPLD) to realize the monostable trigger circuit is introduced. On the basis of analyzing the performance requirement to the synchronization control of the laser range gated imaging system
a new synchronization control circuit based on CPLD is presented. The circuit based on CPLD is very compact and flexible and has high reliability and strong ability of anti-interference. The synchronization control circuit based on CPLD can provide a wide selection of gate widths
pulse widths and delays. The synchronization control circuit is successfully used in our experiment and the expected result is obtained.

Novel efficient and compact package of high power laser diode arrays with single piece microchannel heatsink cooling was designed. The width of microchannel was optimized by theoretic analysis. Using single piece microchannel heatsink we manufactured 5bars high power laser diode stack and obtained 40W CW output
the lifetime of laser diode stack was more than 5000 hours.
