Atmospheric path radiance is the key factor in the accuracy of objective radiation measurement. In the traditional radiation character measurements  it is compared with the results of MODTRAN and measurement in experiment. It is revealed that the accuracy of software is 7.8%  under the help of the atmospheric observation equipment  and the formula is 4.9%  MODTRAN and other software likewise  which could demonstrate the validity of the pproximate calculation formula in close range and horizontal direction. In this article  the indeterminacy rate could be around 10~20%  in the process of deducing and experiment  it is highly restricts the measurement accuracy of objective radiation. For this reason  the validity of the approximate calculation formula in close range and horizontal direction is fully proved  it is quite significant to develop the study of measure and calculation in path radiance. The approximate calculation formula for path radiance in close range and horizontal direction is expressed in this article  which supply a new method in approximate calculation of path radiance for objective radiation measurement. In order to reduce the influence of azimuth effect in multi-position strap-down north seeking system  its cause of formation is studied based on the precession principle of the dynamically tuned gyro. A detecting system  composed by true north prism  two Leica theodolites and benchmark prism fixed in the strap-down north seeking system  was designed to calibrate the azimuth effect. By two steps  many measurements are gone on in every position to eliminate the random error. According to the homologous between the error and the position  a sinusoid is made a fit as compensate curve after the error of twelve positions is measured. Then the azimuth effect of the arbitrary position can be corrected by the curve. The experiment result shows that the seeking north standard deviation is only 11.77 after compensation  which is considerably less than the 87.75 without correction. 2008 IEEE.

STIM (Solar Total Irradiance Monitor) can be used on sun-synchronous polar orbit weather satellites to measure the total solar irradiance. It contains three independent and identical wide view absolute radiometers. They are mounted on the satellite in an angle which ensure the sun scan over the field of view of the absolute radiometers. This measurement method doesn't need the instrument tracking the sun but the sun scan over the field of view of the absolute radiometers in each orbit cycle. The paper presents the measurement method of simulation for solar irradiance measurement and calibration by mounting the instrument on a two-axis rotation table. By controlling the rotation angle velocity of the instrument in the meridian direction being the same as that of the weather satellite's on orbit  we can measure the solar irradiance when the sun scan over the field of view of the absolute radiometers to simulate the onboard state. And we have operated the measurement with the prototype of STIM. The SIAR-1 is traceable to WRR and serves as a transfer standard. So simultaneous comparison measurements between SIAR-1 and each of the three wide view absolute radiometers are measured to provide calibration corrections to the instrument. And we have a further study at the influence of stray light to the measurement results. This paper presents the method of simulation experiment and calibration for solar irradiance measurement with Solar Total Irradiance Monitor on board.
