A New Set of Parameters of High-Mass X-ray Binaries Found with their Cyclotron Lines 期刊论文  OAI收割

Astrophysics - High Energy Astrophysical Phenomena  Abstract: We have derived new physical quantities for several High-Mass X-ray Binaries (HMXBs) with supergiant (SG) companions through their cyclotron lines. The parameters are: the terminal velocity of the wind, the mass loss rate of the donor, the effective temperature and the magnetic fields. These parameters influence significantly the improvement of the model of accretion. In spite of the variety of their observational properties, the corresponding magnetic field is around B ~ 10^12 G. This result can be constrained by the effects on stellar evolution. In addition, we have performed a segmentation in the parameter space of donors intended for several SG-HMXB listed in our sample set. The parameter space can be categorized into five regimes depending on the possibility of disk formation associated with accretion from the stellar wind. This can give a quantitative clarification of the observed variability and the properties of these objects. We show that, when these systems come into the direct accretion region, systems with corresponding parameters can emit X-rays.

Using ferrocene as catalyst precursor  C2H2 as carbon source  carbon nanotubes (CNTs) with uniform density were synthesized on carbon fibers substrate by floating catalyst method. The morphology and microstructure were characterized by field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). The observation showed that the length of CNTs is about 2 m  the average space between adjacent CNTs is about 300 nm and the diameter of CNT is about 45 nm. The less dense "short and stubby" aligned CNTs films should have good electron field emission characteristics. The results of field emission showed that the emission current of CNTs/carbon fibers was 5 A at the field of 2.5 V/m  and the emission current can be 280 A with a field of 7 V/m (the specimen area is 0.25 cm2 and the distance between cathode and anode is 200 m). The calculation based on the F-N plot indicated that the field enhancement factor of CNTs tip is 499122. Using the conductivity and chemical stability of carbon fibers and the uniform and sparse density distribution of CNTs on carbon fibers substrate  the tip predominance of carbon nanotubes can be exerted  and simultaneously the effect of screening effects between adjacent carbon nanotubes on the field emission performance can also be effectively decreased. The CNTs synthesized on carbon fibers substrate has many predominances for the fabrication of cold cathode devices. For example  using the removability of carbon fibers  the cathode of CNTs/carbon fibers can be arbitrarily moved  enlaced or combined to form different patterns  and the cathode of CNTs/carbon fibers can be also fabricated in large size. Therefore  CNTs/carbon fibers may have potential application in field emission displays.

The gain of a TDI CCD camera is the conversion between the number of electrons recorded by the TDI CCD and the number of digital units (counts) contained in the CCD image"[1]. TDI CCD camera has been a main technical approach for meeting the requirements of high-resolution and lightweight of remote sensing equipment. It is useful to know this conversion for evaluating the performance of the TDI CCD camera. In general  a lower gain is better. However  the resulting slope is the gain of the TDI CCD. We did the experiments using the Integration Sphere in order to get a flat field effects. We calculated the gain of the four IT-EI-2048 TDI CCD. The results and figures of the four TDI CCD are given.  this is only true as long as the total well depth (number of electrons that a pixel can hold) of the pixels can be represented. High gains result in higher digitization noise. System gains are designed to be a compromise between the extremes of high digitization noise and loss of well depth. In this paper  the mathematical theory is given behind the gain calculation on a TDI CCD camera and shows how the mathematics suggests ways to measure the gain accurately according to the Axiom Tech. The gains were computed using the mean-variance method  also known as the method of photon transfer curves. This method uses the effect of quantization on the variance in the measured counts over a uniformly illuminated patch of the detector. This derivation uses the concepts of signal and noise. The effects of polymer network formed under UV irradiation with electric field application ( 50V  5Hz) to ferroelectric liquid crystal (FLC) molecules orientation and electrooptic characteristics have been studied. The polymer network formed in SmC*phase is anisotropic and fibrils-like  and a typical striped texture was observed in the cell. The FLC gels exhibit a symmetric V-shaped electrooptic characteristics with thresholdless voltage and high contrast ratio (40:1). A theory explanation of the unique properties is given by establishing a molecular orientation model and conducting a computer simulation. A good fitting of the electrooptic dynamic response of FLC gels has been obtained by introducing a potential (bulk anchoring energy) originated from the photo-cured polymer network. 2002 Taylor Francis.
