- Instrumentation and Methods for Astrophysics
Abstract: Insight-HXMT, the first X-ray astronomical satellite in China, aims to reveal new sources in the Galaxy and to study fundamental physics of X-ray binaries from 1 to 250 keV. It has three collimated telescopes, the High Energy X-ray telescope (HE), the Medium Energy X-ray telescope (ME), and the Low Energy X-ray telescope (LE). Before the launch, in-orbit backgrounds of these three telescopes had been estimated through Geant4 simulation, in order to investigate the instrument performance and the achievement of scientific goals. In this work, these simulated backgrounds are compared with in-orbit observations. Good agreements are shown for all three telescopes. For HE, (1) the deviation of the simulated background rate after two years of operation in space is 5 % from the observation
(2) the total background spectrum and the relative abundance of the 67 keV line show long-term increases both in simulations and observations. For ME, (1) the deviation of simulated background rate is within 15 % from the observation, and (2) there are no obvious long-term increase features in the background spectra of simulations and observations. For LE, the background level given by simulations is also consistent with observations. The consistencies of these comparisons validate that the Insight-HXMT mass model, i.e., space environment components and models adopted, physics processes selected, and detector constructions built, is reasonable. However, the line features at 7.5 and 8.0 keV, which are obvious in the observed spectra of LE, are not evident in simulations. This might result from uncertainties in the LE constructions.

In order to meet requirement of real-time and high accuracy in image matching aided navigation
SSDA algorithm is used to match remote sensing image and template image coarsely
a fast and effective algorithm of remote sensing image matching based on corner detection is put forward. With the combination of rough and fine match
when the matching result is bigger than one to count absolute value sum of energy difference of characteristic point energy to realize fine match of remote sensing image and template image to locate the position of template image in remote sensing image accurately. Simulation experiment proves that the matching of a remote sensing image resolution of 1018*1530 and a template image resolution of 150*90 can be fulfilled within 2.392 second
wavelet transform is used to acquire low frequency component to realize image compression to decrease calculation work and increase matching speed. Harris corner detection algorithm is used to detect corner of remote sensing image and template image and energy of every corner is calculated
the algorithm is robust and effective

In order to meet special requests of optical imaging sensor in scene matching navigation system
a disc varifocal mechanism is proposed for the flight vehicles of long flying time and range. Within small space occupied
it can obtain real images with various resolutions. Moreover
using plate traveling-wave Ultrasonic Motor as its driven motor can reduce energy loss
improve control precision and ensure image obtaining being real-time and stable. Disc varifocal mechanism driven by plate traveling-wave Ultrasonic Motor is high-response
and variation in load doesn't affect its performance parameter. Therefore
applying disc varifocal mechanism in scene matching navigation system
combing software and hardware
can obviously improve the accuracy
real-time and robust of scene matching navigation system. The experiment showed that when the weight of mechanism was 1.5kg
the shortest starting was 0.6ms
and the shortest shutoff was 0.5ms. 2009 IEEE.
