In order to determination of cholesterol in human serum with no reagent using nearinfrared (NIR) spectroscopy. Interval partial least square (iPLS) was proposed as an effective variable selection approach for multivariate calibration. For this purpose  an independent sample set was employed to evaluate the prediction ability of the resulting model. The spectrum was split into different interval. Then  the informative region of cholesterol (1688-1760nm)  in which the PLS model has a low RMSEP with 0.241mmol/L and a high R with 0.975  is selected with 23 intervals. The results indicate that  the informative region of cholesterol can be obtained by iPLS and applied to design the simpler reagentless NIR instruments for inexpensive cholesterol measurement in future. Based on the characteristic of striping noise in remote sensing images  a new destriping technique for the improved threshold function using lifting wavelet transform is presented in this letter. It can overcome the shortcoming of the hard threshold function and soft threshold function. The lifting wavelet transform is easily realized. Also it is inexpensive in computer time and storage space compared with the traditional wavelet transform. We also compare the improved threshold function with some traditional threshold functions both by visual inspection and by appropriate indexes of quality of the denoised images. Evaluations of the results based on several image quality indexes indicate that image quality has been improved after destriping. The destriped images are not only visually more plausible but also suitable for computerized analysis and it did better than the existed ones. 2010 IEEE.

The applications based on traditional digital cameras have been limited by distance  cost and networking. Gigabit Ethernet is a data transmission standard based on the IEEE 802.3 protocol  brings several benefits to image transmission. In this paper  we compare the main features of Gigabit Ethernet and traditional digital camera interfaces. And  we design a high speed image acquisition system which overcomes these application limitations by allowing cameras to send imaging data over Gigabit Ethernet. In this system  we design a highly efficient  bidirectional conversion device based on FPGA  converts imaging data from a camera to IP packets based on UDP protocol  and sends it to PCs over inexpensive Cat-5 copper LAN cable. At the PC  the Cat-5 cable plugs into a standard Gigabit Ethernet NIC(network interface card)  eliminating the need for a frame grabber. An communications application software is used to acquire the network data  construct and display the image. A simple and efficient acknowledge and resend mechanism was used to guarantee packet delivery. The system architecture and the communication protocol are discussed in details  the experiment and results are presented in this paper. 2010 IEEE.

Based on the characteristic of striping noise in remote sensing images  a new destriping noise technique for the improved multi-threshold method using lifting wavelet transform applied to remote sensing imagery is presented in this letter. Have used the lifting wavelet decomposition algorithm  the thresholds are determined by corresponding wavelet coefficients in every scale. Remote sensing imagery is so large that the algorithm must be fast and effective. The lifting wavelet transform is easily realized and inexpensive in computer time and storage space compared with the traditional wavelet transform. We also compare the method with some traditional destriping methods both by visual inspection and by appropriate indexes of quality of the denoised images. From the comparison we can see that the adaptive threshold method can preserve the spectral characteristic of the images while effectively remove striping noise and it did better than the existed ones. 2010 IEEE.
