In computer graphics
animated models are widely used to represent time-varying data. In this paper
we propose an improved method to generate multiresolution animation models. We use a curvature sensitive quadric error metric (QEM) criterion as our basic measurement
which can preserve local features on the surface. We append a deformation weight to the aggregated edge contraction cost for the whole animation to preserve areas with large deformation. At last
we introduce a mesh optimization method to deal with the animation sequence
which can efficiently improve the temporal coherence and reduce visual artifacts. The results show our approach is efficient
easy to implement
and good quality progressive animation models can be generated at any level of detail. 2009 IEEE.

The wavefront coding technology is known as a system-level technology which can extend the depth of focus of optical system by innovative optical design and image restoration. This technology can control misfocus related aberrations including misfocus
astigmatism
and Petzval curvature
temperature-related misfocus in digital imaging systems. It can also help optical system tolerate more residual error in optical manufacturing and alignment besides misfocus. The brief introduction of wavefront coding technology and the wavefront coded TMA system under research is presented respectively in part 1 and part 2. The "MTF similarity" is defined to describe the relationship among MTF at different position or different fields in the third part. It is also shown in this part that the MTF similarity of wavefront coded system is much higher than the normal system within a large range. In part 4 comparison between the origin system and the new system with wavefront coding technology is provided after multiple errors are introduced
from which it can be observed that the system with wavefront coding technology can tolerate much bigger error than origin system. The error tolerance is re-distributed according to a new criterion based on MTF similarity. If the MTF similarity is less than a certain value
it can be regarded that the system can tolerate the residual error. The new error tolerance is displayed and it is shown that the wavefront coding technology can also loosen the error distributing besides extended the depth of focus.

The manufacturing procedure of a 500 mm in diameter
f/2 hyperbolic primary mirror based on Computer-Controlled Polishing is introduced in detail. The mirror was finally polished to the shape accuracy of 13 nm rms and the surface roughness of 2 nm Ra. Testing methods and data analysis for different stages ranging from grinding to polishing are discussed. Some critical factors affecting the efficiency and accuracy of the grinding/polishing procedure are summarized. In addition
the preliminary work to make large off-axis asphere mirrors is presented. The difficulties in polishing and testing for both circular aperture and rectangular aperture mirrors are previewed
and a possible solution is given. To control the geometrical parameters such as radius of curvature and conic constant
a new profiler has been built
and it has proven very useful to improve the grinding efficiency. Finally
the manufacturing of small aspheres using deterministic grinding tool is also introduced. The fine grinding procedure of LOH's asphere grinding machine is presented.
