Image registration is a key technique in pattern recognition and image processing
and it is widely used in many application areas such as computer vision
remote sensing
image fusion and object tracking. A method for image registration combining Mexican-hat wavelets and pseudo-Zernike moments is proposed. Firstly
feature points are extracted using scale-interaction Mexican-hat wavelets in the reference image and sensed image respectively. Then
pseudo-Zernike moments are used to match them and classical RANSAC used to eliminate the wrong matches. And then
the well match points are used to estimate the best affine transform parameters by least squares minimization. At last
the sensed image is transformed and resampled to accomplish the image registration. The experiments indicate that the proposed algorithm extracts feature points and matches them exactly and eliminates wrong matched points effectively and achieves nice registration results. 2012 TSI Press.

Infrared radiation signature measurement of targets is one of important ways for target signature acquirement and target recognition. When measuring the infrared signature of a target in the atmosphere
molecules and aerosol particles in the atmosphere would attenuate the infrared radiation from the target
and at the same time
the air path radiation would be added to the target radiation. Therefore
in order to obtain the intrinsic infrared radiation of the target
it is necessary to perform atmospheric correction in the process of target radiation inversion. A model for target radiation measurement and inversion was established
and precision analysis on the model was given. A longwave infrared camera was used to perform infrared signature measurement experiment on an ISDC extended-area blackbody. Based on atmospheric parameters
the atmospheric transmittance and the air path radiation between the blackbody target and the camera were calculated by using the MODTRAN software
for use in atmospheric correction in the target radiation inversion process. The experimental results showed that radiation inversion precisions were about 7.3%9.3%. Additionally
inversion precision will improve as target temperature rises. 2010 IEEE.

The problem of extracting continuous structures from images is a difficult issue in early pattern recognition and image processings[1]. Tracking with contours in a filtering framework requires a dynamical model for prediction. Recently
Particle filter
is widely used because its multiple hypotheses and versatility within framework. However
the good choice of the propagation function is still its main problem. In this paper
an improved particle filter
EM-PF algorithm is proposed which using the EM (Expectation-Maximization) algorithm to learn the dynamical models. The EM algorithm can explicitly learn the parameters of the dynamical models from training sequences. The advantage of using the EM algorithm in particle filter is that it is capable of improve tracking contour by having accurate model parameters. Though the experiment results
we show how our EM-PF can be applied to produces more robust and accurate extracting.

A new method of affine object recognition and affine parameters estimation is presented. For a real-time image and a group of templates
in addition
firstly
on the basis of correct recognition
we segment the object regions in them and compute their covariant matrices. Secondly
it can estimate affine parameters exactly
normalize the ellipse regions defined by covariant matrices to circle regions to get rotational invariants
and the estimated error is within 3%. 2008 IEEE.
and compute the similarity function value between rotational invariants of real-time image and every template respectively. Then compare the values with threshold set in advance
if more than one value is larger than threshold
take the corresponding templates as candidates
and compute affine matrix between real-time image and every candidate. Finally
transform the realtime image with every affine matrix and match the result with corresponding candidate by classical matching methods. Experimental results show that the presented method is robust to illumination
with low computational complexity
and it can realize recognition of different affine objects
