Tandem gratings of double-dispersion mount make it possible to design an imaging spectrometer for the weak light observation with high spatial resolution
high spectral resolution
and high optical transmission efficiency. The traditional tandem Wadsworth mounting is originally designed to match the coaxial telescope and large-scale imaging spectrometer. When it is used to connect the off-axis telescope such as off-axis parabolic mirror
it presents lower imaging quality than to connect the coaxial telescope. It may also introduce interference among the detector and the optical elements as it is applied to the short focal length and small-scale spectrometer in a close volume by satellite. An advanced tandem Wadsworth mounting has been investigated to deal with the situation. The Wadsworth astigmatism-corrected mounting condition for which is expressed as the distance between the second concave grating and the imaging plane is calculated. Then the optimum arrangement for the first plane grating and the second concave grating
which make the anterior Wadsworth condition fulfilling each wavelength
is analyzed by the geometric and first order differential calculation. These two arrangements comprise the advanced Wadsworth mounting condition. The spectral resolution has also been calculated by these conditions. An example designed by the optimum theory proves that the advanced tandem Wadsworth mounting performs excellently in spectral broadband. 2012 Optical Society of America.

By using analysis of the infinity image of the space camera
we intend to obtain the curve of the dynamic modulation transfer function. We extract the pixel gray values at the image edge which distribute as a knife-edge function
and make differential calculation and Fourier transformation of it
and then we can obtain the dynamic MTF curve of the optical system. The value of the curve at the Nyquist frequency is the most important parameter that reflects the image quality. We add push-scanning imaging and environmental effects to the static MTF of space camera and compare the MTF value with the dynamic MTF at Nyquist frequency. The comparison result can help us verify the accuracy of the calculating results and the feasibility of our method. (2011) Trans Tech Publications.

Medical imaging has started to take advantage of digital technology
opening the way for advanced medical imaging and teleradiology. Medical images
however
require large amounts of memory. At over 1 million bytes per image
a typical hospital needs a staggering amount of memory storage (over one trillion bytes per year)
and transmitting an image over a network (even the promised superhighway) could take minutes - too slow for interactive teleradiology. This calls for image compression to reduce significantly the amount of data needed to represent an image. Several compression techniques with different compression ratio have been developed. However
the lossless techniques
which allow for perfect reconstruction of the original images
yield modest compression ratio
while the techniques that yield higher compression ratio are lossy
that is
the original image is reconstructed only approximately Medical imaging poses the great challenge of having compression algorithms that are lossless (for diagnostic and legal reasons) and yet have high compression ratio for reduced storage and transmission time. To meet this challenge
we are developing and studying some compression schemes
which are either strictly lossless or diagnostically lossless
taking advantage of the peculiarities of medical images and of the medical practice. In order to increase the Signal to-Noise Ratio (SNR) by exploitation of correlations within the source signal
a method of combining differential pulse code modulation (DPCM) is presented.
