中文摘要Structural modeling of end mills is extremely significant for predicting deflections and vibrations in milling processes. This paper describes the methodology of the geometric model of cylindrical helix end mill with NURBS solid model different from the traditional three-dimensional model. The helix cutting edge is approximated by NURBS curve for a given tolerance and the cross-section of the cylindrical helix end milling with two flutes is formulated biparametric NURBS surface. Then the solid model is modelled by rotating and translating the control points of the cross-section along perpendicular direction to associated control point of the cutting edge. The simple method offers an intuitive high-quality end mill modes and the gateway of the mesh refinement to implement on Isogeometric Analysis based on NURBS or the traditional finite element analysis for in machining process simulations.
