Devising switching schemes for network of colliding RFID readers is a core challenge in the reliable operation of RFID augmented ubiquitous environment. In this paper, a novel optimal scheduling method for RFID network using a Self-adaptive Bacterial Foraging Optimization (SABFO) Algorithm is presented. The SABFO, which is based on the recently developed Bacterial Foraging Optimization (BFO) technique, can adjust the run-length unit parameter dynamically during evolution to balance the exploration/exploitation tradeoff. Simulation on an RFID reader network architecture is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed SABFO based scheduling method.
