Comparing with optical remote sensing techniques  passive remote sensing data have been proved to be effective for observing snowpack parameters such as snow depth and snow water equivalent  which can penetrate snowpack without clouds interferences. The Microwave Radiation Imager (MWRI) loaded on the Chinese FengYun-3B (FY-3B) satellite is gradually used in the global environment research through November  2011. In this paper  we proposed a snow depth retrieval algorithm to estimate snow depth in Northeast China using MWRI passive microwave remote sensing data. A decision tree method of snow identification was firstly designed to distinguish different snow cover conditions in order to eliminate other interference signals. After using the proposed decision tree method  the processing results were further used to retrieve the snow depth in Northeast China. Finally  the practical snow depth data and the MODIS data were collected for the accuracy assessment of the proposed snow depth retrieval method. The experimental results demonstrated that the RMSE of snow depth used the proposed method was approximately 3 cm in Northeast China. 2012 SPIE.

In the field of robot vision  edge feature based stereo matching algorithm can reconstruct the targets with clear contours  which needs accurate and continuous target edges been extracted. In the paper  the smoothing filter operator was designed based on the discrete criteria of edge extraction and its correspondence optimal linear filter. Edge extraction was carried out incorporated the nonmaximum suppression and two thresholds techniques. The discrete criteria based multi-scale edge extraction method was studied with full use of the multi-scale character of the edge information. The detected multi-scale edges were synthesized to obtain the accurate and continuous single pixel wide edge. Then an edge feature based stereo matching algorithm was proposed to obtain 3D information of target. The experimental results demonstrate that the method can effectively suppress disturbance in outdoor environment and reconstruct target contour clearly. (2011) Trans Tech Publications.

The CCD plane of the space tridimensional mapping camera will be deviated from the focal plane(including the CCD plane deviated due to camera focal length changed)  under the condition of space environment and vibration  impact when satellite is launching  image resolution ratio will be descended because defocusing. For tridimensional mapping camera  principal point position and focal length variation of the camera affect positioning accuracy of ground target  conventional solution is under the condition of vacuum and focusing range  calibrate the position of CCD plane with code of photoelectric encoder  when the camera defocusing in orbit  the magnitude and direction of defocusing amount are obtained by photoelectric encoder  then the focusing mechanism driven by step motor to compensate defocusing amount of the CCD plane. For tridimensional mapping camera  under the condition of space environment and vibration  impact when satellite is launching  if the camera focal length changes  above focusing method has been meaningless. Thus  the measuring and focusing method was put forward based on astigmation  a quadrant detector was adopted to measure the astigmation caused by the deviation of the CCD plane  refer to calibrated relation between the CCD plane poison and the asrigmation  the deviation vector of the CCD plane can be obtained. This method includes all factors caused deviation of the CCD plane  experimental results show that the focusing resolution of mapping camera focusing mechanism based on astigmatic method can reach 0.25 m. 2010 Copyright SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering.

Nowadays star sensor technology used in aircraft attitude measurement has become more and more popular for its high precision  light weight  without attitude accumulation errors and other advantages. In order to enhance the accuracy of star sensor  it is critical to make efforts to promote the precision of star image locating. High precision star image locating method mentioned in this article includes two aspects. One is sub-pixel dividing algorithm used to acquire the coordinate of stars. The other one is imaging calibration method used to weaken the effect caused by imaging distortion. This method is finally realized in some type of star sensor system. Then an experiment is designed to verify the precision of the method. The result of the experiment shows that the precision of the method is 2" in the experimental environment. 2010 IEEE.

Current research on infrared simulation often focuses mainly on infrared imaging simulation by computer and pays little attention to outdoor simulation of infrared radiation characteristics of targets. In order to simulate infrared radiance of targets outdoors  in this paper we propose a new outdoor simulation method on the basis of heating the cloth by electricity. There are two major contributions in the paper. Firstly  uneven distributing of temperature field of the cloth surface is considered and the long-wave thermal imager is used as a link of the temperature control system. On the basis of many experiments  the expression is concluded about the relation of the temperature obtained by the lone-wave thermal imager and the temperature obtained by the temperature control system and the environmental temperature at the experimental scene. Secondly  the influence of the environment at the experimental scene on the infrared radiance of the cloth surface is thought over. Thanks to two measures above  simulation precision of infrared radiance is made much better. The results of many outdoor experiments demonstrate the performance of the proposed approach. 2009 SPIE.
