Based on the CROSSBAR network (CN) and the BANYAN network (BN)
8 matrix optical switch
two new rearrangeable nonblocking constructions of extended BANYAN network (EBN) are proposed for implementing 88 optical matrix switch. The interconnection characteristics of these two types of rearrangeable nonblocking EBN were studied
optical insertion loss of 4.6 dB
and the logic program for driving switching units was provided. The calculated insertion loss was 3.3 dB for 88 optical matrix switch. Silica waveguide 88 matrix optical switch was designed and fabricated according to the calculated results. The silica waveguide propagation loss of 0.1 dB/cm and waveguide-fiber coupling loss of 0.5dB/point were measured. With the fabricated 87times
cross-talk of -38 dB
polarization dependent loss of 0.4 dB
averaged switching power of 1.6 W
and switching time of 1 ms were achieved. A basic agreement between experimental results and theoretical calculated values was achieved.

This paper presents a new wavelength-selective switch by combining silicon micromaching and microassembly techniques. The 18 wavelength-selective switch (WSS) based on micro electro mechanical systems (MEMS) technology is proposed and fabricated with micro electromagnetic actuators
8 WXC prototype node is implemented by using 18 WSSs as building elements. The working principle and the configuration of the micro electromagnetic actuator are illuminated. By analysis
reflecting prisms and narrow-band thin films filters. And a 8
the property suits for the application when the inputs are 2V
and the best fiber-to-fiber insertion loss 5dB is gotten.

This paper proposes that the inter-layer separation distance (ISD) and the unit cell aligning error (UAE) are used as main variables to study the transmission performance attenuation of the double layer FSS configuration. The numerical analysis model for ISD and UAE was established and also was used to simulate the cross loop slot cell FSS transmission performance by the finite element and periodic moment method program. The double layer cross loop aperture FSS configuration designed was used as the numerical model. As a result of the numerical analysis
it is shown that both ISD and UAE produce insertion transmission loss (ITL) and insertion phase distortion (IPD) directly. Furthermore
ISD results in much loss of the amplitude of the transmitted signal for the FSS than UAE. It is significant for the designer for the multiplayer FSS to assign the fabricated error of the FSS dielectric layers. The UAE introduces the insertion phase variation badly.

Examinable characteristic is an important parameter to measure and ensure the function and quality of the products. Based on the idea of DFA/M(Design For Assembly/Design For Manufacturability) and the method whether the target for low insertion loss and high reflection loss is implemented
the rational structure and assembly technics for the polarization-maintaining dual fiber collimator are discussed
and the packaging technology based on DFT of the polarization-maintaining dual fiber collimator is proposed. This method has been utilized in batch manufacture to enhance the efficiency and ensure the eligible ratio.

Optical switch is one of key supporting technologies in all-optical-network (AON). And electrostatic MOEMS (Micro-Optical-Electro-Mechanical Systems) switch plays a very important role in all the researched switches
because of their excellent features
including low insertion
low crosstalk and scalability. But the packaging technology has been limiting the development of optical switch. In this paper
the authors study the laser beam propagating during the free space and select collimator
design the pedestal to packaging and address aspects of the insertion loss that are most important loss mechanisms for the 2D cross-connect switch.
