In this paper  we are presenting a design method and its results for a space optical system with high resolution and wide field of view. This optical system can be used both in infrared and visible configurations. The designing of this system is based on an on-axis three-mirror anastigmatic (TMA) system. Here the on-axis concept allows wide field of view (FOV) enabling a diversity of designs available for the Multi-Object Spectrometer instruments optimized for low scattered and low emissive light. The available FOVs are upto 1 in both spectrum ranges  whereas the available aperture range is F/15 - F/10. The final optical system is a three-mirror telescope with two on-axis and one off-axis segment and its resolution is 0.3m or even lower. The distinguished feature of this design is that it maintains diffraction-limited image at wide wavelengths. The technological developments in the field of computer generated shaping of large-sized optical surface details with diffraction-limited imagery have opened new avenues towards the designing techniques. Such techniques permit us to expand these technological opportunities to fabricate the aspherical off-axis mirrors for a complex configuration.

The purpose of characterizing the image of large-sized photographic instrument is to make the directionality of three coordinate axises in the three-dimensional coordinate of the image and the directionality of three axises of coordinate in the frame of axes of the instrument keep the same direction. This problem was solved by a high-precision measurement system composed of double-theodolite and a set of communication system. Two cube prisms will be respectively placed on the image surface and the instrument. Every cube prism will stand for a three-dimensional coordinate from the image surface or the instrument. As a result  the interdependence of both coordinates from the image surface and the instrument can be obtained by measuring the interdependence of the both cube prisms with autocollimation survey axiom. In the survey system  two high-precision stations TDA5005 from Leica Company will be selected as double-theodolite and the interdependence of both coordinates can be achieved by moving the station only at one time. Therefore  this measurement system is a high efficient and high-precision surveying method to the image calibration of the large-sized photographic instrument. Based on the experiment  its measuring accuracy can reach arc-second level.

The geometric distortion of infrared image  which was created by the large-sized relative aperture optical system. It could be corrected by the digital image processing technology. The magnitude of distortion would be enlarged quickly with the enlargement of relative aperture. Though the distortion could not impact on the articulation of the image  it would affect geometric location precision of the image directly. In this paper  the distortion correction of uncooled large-sized relative aperture infrared imaging system was discussed and the mathematical model of distortion correction was established. A algorithm of digital image processing was presented and applied based on control points by combining polynomial warping and space variant linear image interpolation. The method of polynomial warping was used to establish the locality relationship between the original image and the distortion ones. The space-variant linear image interpolation provided an efficient way to rebuild the frame of images. The computational costs of the proposed approach are very little and the precision is almost as high as the method of bicubic interpolation when compared to those of state-of-the-art nonlinear interpolation operators.
