ACRIMSAT/ACRIM III and EOS/SORCE) started in succession for long-term monitoring total solar irradiance. These experiments are described
and 3 TSI composites constructed by the datasets of these experiments are introduced. The differences of the original data
composite approach and trend of the 3 TSI composites are shown. The argument of the different trends of the 3 TSI composites is discussed
and a conclusion is gotten that low accuracy
low quality and the relative shortage of the early TSI measurement data are the substantial reasons of the differences among the 3 TSI composites. 2012 TSI Press.

In order to determination of cholesterol in human serum with no reagent using nearinfrared (NIR) spectroscopy. Interval partial least square (iPLS) was proposed as an effective variable selection approach for multivariate calibration. For this purpose
an independent sample set was employed to evaluate the prediction ability of the resulting model. The spectrum was split into different interval. Then
the informative region of cholesterol (1688-1760nm)
in which the PLS model has a low RMSEP with 0.241mmol/L and a high R with 0.975
is selected with 23 intervals. The results indicate that
the informative region of cholesterol can be obtained by iPLS and applied to design the simpler reagentless NIR instruments for inexpensive cholesterol measurement in future. (2012) Trans Tech Publications

The sensing properties with strain and temperature of tapered FBG had been researched both theoretically and experimentally. Based on tapered FBG and thin-wall strain cylinder structure
a novel temperature-independent high pressure sensor was fabricated and investigated. The tapered FBG performed as a chirped grating
whose bandwidth and reflection power broadened and increased when the pressure applied on it. Moreover
the bandwidth and the reflection power were temperature-independent. So the value of the strain can be obtained by detecting the reflection power. This method effectively solved the cross-sensitivity problem. The experiment results indicated that this sensor provided a measurement range of 040MPa with a sensitivity of 0.04w/MPa
low cost and good application prospect. 2010 IEEE.

A digital mirror device (DMD) based light projector was developed as the target generator in modulation transfer function (MTF) measurement. In order to overcome the sampling-scene phase effect in MTF measurement of sampled imaging systems
a method using random targets is introduced to yield a phase-averaged MTF. The main potential problem of implementing this method is the fact that the stationary assumption of the random targets may be vitiated in practical measurement
especially in field test due to the ill condition. We provide an efficient model-independent way of analyzing and isolating the spectral contents arising from these additional contributions to MTF measurement. Algorithms with adaptive parameter selection were also developed for spectral estimation of the test image in order to overcome the challenge brought by the size limit of the test matrices for one certain field of view derived from the isoplantic region. The MTF measurement of a CCD video imager is used to demonstrate the measurement technique and illustrate the benefits over other methods. In order to validate the results
comparisons have been made between MTF measurements of imager implemented using this method and bar target direct measurements. 2010 Copyright SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering.
