In this paper  Quaternions are used to describe the structural information of a color image in order to assess its quality. The representation method is different from conventional models in that some information that is sensitive to human eyes is reinforced by using local variance. It encodes the local variance distribution of the RGB channels of a color image into the three imaginary parts of a quaternion. The luminance layer of the color image is taken as the real part of the quaternion. The distance between the singular value feature vectors of the source image block and the distorted image block which are described by quaternion matrices is calculated. The final assessment result is calculated by using the mid point of the distances. The experimental results show that the assessment results of the proposed assessment method are more consistent with the Human Visual System than those of the conventional assessment methods. 2009 IEEE.

In this paper  a new approach to objectively assess the performance of image fusion algorithms is proposed. It is based on the quaternion representation for the structural information of color images. Quaternions are used to encode the pixels of a color image into a quaternion matrix. Local variance of the luminance layer of color image is taken as the real part of a quaternion  then the three RGB channels of the color image are encoded into the three imaginary parts of the quaternion. The angle between the singular value feature vectors of the quaternion matrices corresponding to the source image and the fused image is used to measure the structural similarity of them. Different weight is given to the source images by using variance. The experiment results show that the proposed assessment method is consistent with the HVS. The color information of a color image can be fully used by this method. It can give an accurate assessment result for each fusion algorithm by using the source images and the fused image. 2009 Copyright SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering.

For the human-level intelligence simulation we should simulate it from the essence of intelligence and with the research results of brain science  cognitive science  artificial intelligence and others. In our study  a mental imagery knowledge representation mode had been established based on cognitive mechanism of human. Two kinds of table named mental imagery concept attributes table and concept attribute value ranges table had been used together to represent mental imagery knowledge in system. Mental imagery concept attributes table which formed by the thought of concept lattice was used to decide relations among concepts and attributes under the circumstance of coarse granularity. While concept attribute value ranges table was used to record differences of individual objects belong to the same concept under the circumstance of fine granularity. The concrete structured method of tables and decision-making process of system were described in the paper. Finally  the validity and feasibility of the knowledge representation mode are illustrated with real examples. 2009 Springer Berlin Heidelberg.

A wavelet-based approach of aerial blurred image restoration is proposed in this article. Image motion is inevitable in photographing for aerospace camera. Though some Image Motion Compensation(IMC) schemes are applied in aerial imaging system  the ultimate image will be blurred in certain extent for the existence of IMC residual error  while the forward image motion is the key element among all image motions which lead to image blurring. First the course of blurring caused by forward image motion is expressed using wavelet transform  and a multiresolution sparse matrix representation of the degeneration model is obtained according to the wavelet transform. Subsequently a regularizing restoration algorithm is deduced from it  and which can smoothly restraint the processed result efficiently. In the end the proposed approach is tested in MATLAB. The blurred image is restored using above-mentioned wavelet algorithm  conventional contrary filter and Wiener filter algorithm separately. The conclusion that the wavelet-based restoration algorithm is superior to other two approaches is obtained by comparing the restored image's value of mean gradient. The calculating quantity of the wavelet-based blurred image restoration approach isn't large and it has good practicability in the field of image interpretation and aerial survey or drawing.
