英文摘要 | Surface electromyography (sEMG) is a non-linear summation of the electrical activity of the motor units in a muscle. Each action potential from each active unit contributes a small and constant increase in the total electrical signal recorded at the skin. The signal is a precise and quantitative measurement of muscle activity that can be analyzed to detect medical abnormalities, activation level, recruit-ment order and the biomechanics of human movements. In this chapter, a novel approach for quantitative assessment of acupuncture based on sEMG decomposition is introduced. The sEMG is decomposed into its component motor unit action potential trains (MUAPTs), and the assessment is performed based on the multiple MUAPTs. First, the sEMG spikes are detected and clustered into several templates with Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM); then, the sEMG data are decomposed by the spike templates to get the corresponding MUAPTs; after that, features are extracted with respect to the MUAPTs and clustered with K-means algorithm; finally, the center-to-center distances between the clusters of both healthy and diseased sides are obtained as the quantitative assessment of acupuncture. A regressive model is also proposed to predict the recovery trend of a patient based on the quantitative assessments during his/her clinic acupuncture history. Totally 20 patients of Bell’s palsy were selected as participates and extensive experiments were conducted to verify the performance of the assessment technique and the effectiveness of acupuncture in quantitative. |
