920 nm optically pumped semiconductor vertical external-cavity surface emitting laser (OPS-VECSEL) has an important application in laser display. We constructed and optimized a 920 nm OPS-VECSEL with active region of In0.09Ga0.91As quantum well (QW) system pumped by 808 nm laser diode module. By the finite element method  self-consistent solutions of the semiconductor electronic and optical equations are realized to calculate the characteristics parameters of OPS-VECSEL. The performances of device especially the mode  the threshold and the optical-optical translation efficiency were analyzed by dealing with different number of QWs (1  2 and 3) in one period  QW depth  barrier width  the component and dimension of the non-absorption layer. We chose an improved structure of them. On this basis  we ameliorated the number of QW periods and the simulation showed that in order to obtain high performance device  the choice of the number of QW periods must be cautious. Comparing with optical remote sensing techniques  passive remote sensing data have been proved to be effective for observing snowpack parameters such as snow depth and snow water equivalent  which can penetrate snowpack without clouds interferences. The Microwave Radiation Imager (MWRI) loaded on the Chinese FengYun-3B (FY-3B) satellite is gradually used in the global environment research through November  2011. In this paper  we proposed a snow depth retrieval algorithm to estimate snow depth in Northeast China using MWRI passive microwave remote sensing data. A decision tree method of snow identification was firstly designed to distinguish different snow cover conditions in order to eliminate other interference signals. After using the proposed decision tree method  the processing results were further used to retrieve the snow depth in Northeast China. Finally  the practical snow depth data and the MODIS data were collected for the accuracy assessment of the proposed snow depth retrieval method. The experimental results demonstrated that the RMSE of snow depth used the proposed method was approximately 3 cm in Northeast China. 2012 SPIE.

In order to determination of cholesterol in human serum with no reagent using nearinfrared (NIR) spectroscopy. Interval partial least square (iPLS) was proposed as an effective variable selection approach for multivariate calibration. For this purpose  an independent sample set was employed to evaluate the prediction ability of the resulting model. The spectrum was split into different interval. Then  the informative region of cholesterol (1688-1760nm)  in which the PLS model has a low RMSEP with 0.241mmol/L and a high R with 0.975  is selected with 23 intervals. The results indicate that  the informative region of cholesterol can be obtained by iPLS and applied to design the simpler reagentless NIR instruments for inexpensive cholesterol measurement in future. Image matching has been one of the most fundamental issues computer vision over the decades. In this paper we propose a novel method based on making use of feature lines in order to achieve more robust image matching. The feature lines have the properties of rotation and scaling invariance  coined RIFLT(Rotation invariant feature line transform). Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed method. Compare with the famous powerful algorithm Scale Invariant Feature Transform(SIFT)  the proposed method is more insensitive to noise. And for certain sequence of images  which contain clear lines  the proposed method is more efficiency. Using the feature lines obtained by our method  it is possible to matching two scene images with different rotation angles  scale and light distort. 2011 IEEE.

In order to measure high accuracy or mid spatial frequency optical surfaces  this study investigated imaging system in Fizeau interferometer. Interferometer is a transferring phase information system. General transfer function can't evaluate the ability of imaging system in interferometer that transfers the phase information of the optical surface. So this paper deduced instrument transfer function (ITF) and used ITF to evaluate the phase information transfer ability of interferometer. We obtained some results about ITF of imaging system by numerical simulation when there are different aberrations in imaging system or measuring optical surfaces were different. Our results indicate that ITF can evaluate the ability of transferring phase information in interferometer and the distortion of imaging system evidently affects the accuracy of interferometric measurements. 2010 IEEE.

TDI-CCD can improve the sensitivity of space camera without any degradation of spatial resolution which is widely used in aerospace imaging devices. The article describes the basic working principle and application characteristics of TDI-CCD devices  analyses the composition of TDI-CCD imaging noise  and propose a new method to analyze TDI-CCD imaging noise with statistical probability distribution. In order to estimate the distribution of gray values affect by noise we introduced the concept of skewness and kurtosis. We design an experiment using constant illumination light source  take image with TDI-CCD working at different stage such as stage 16  stage 32  stage 48  stage 64 and stage 96  analyse the characteristics of image noise with the method we proposed  experimental results show that the gray values approximately meet normal distribution in large sample cases. 2011 SPIE.
