The imaging measurement system must be calibrated before application. In calibration procedure
sub-pixel center extraction is the crucial step for the final accuracy. In this paper
a new sub-pixel extraction method is proposed. Edge detection at pixel level is obtained using LOG operator
then sub-pixel edge detection is realized using the Facet model. Finally
the least squares ellipse fitting is operated on the sub-pixel edge to determine the sub-pixel center. Experiment on a series of simulated images indicates that this algorithm is able to realize the center location accuracy of 0.01-0.02 pixel
and meets the requirement of sub-pixel level. (2012) Trans Tech Publications

A coarse and fine combined fast search and auto-focusing algorithm was suggested in this paper. This method can automatically search and find the focal plane by evaluating the image definition. The Krisch operator based edge energy function was used as the big-step coarse focusing
and then the wavelet transform based image definition evaluation function
which is sensitivity to the variation in image definition
was used to realize the small-step fine focusing in a narrow range. The un-uniform sampling function of the focusing area selection used in this method greatly reduces the workload and the required time for the data processing. The experimental results indicate that this algorithm can satisfy the requirement of the optical measure equipment for the image focusing. (2012) Trans Tech Publications.

The process of wear design on chisel-edge ruling tool of diffraction gratings is very complex because of following two reasons that one is the load distribution on minute edge area when grating ruling
and the other is the anisotropic character of natural diamond. The former is the first step when wear design on chisel-edge ruling tool of diffraction grating
In order to predicate the load distribution on minute edge area of tool
this paper simulated the load distribution on minute edge area of tool by software when ruling on Aluminum-1100 with tabular data format flow stress and Aluminum-1100 with Power law flow stress respectively
and through comparative analysis determined the approximate load distribution on minute edge area of chisel-edge ruling tool that the high load mainly focused on the edge area close to the tip of ruling tool and amount to 200MPa while about to 100MPa on the face of tool.
