The properties of monolayer of mixed p-10

9-trioxaundecyl- -D-mannopyranoside(MPDA) were studied. The monolayer of mixed PDA/MPDA could be recognized by Escherichia coli (E.coli) K12. When incubating with E. coli K12
the color of monolayer changed from blue to red. The response is selective
and can be quantified by visible absorption spectrophotometry.
