920 nm optically pumped semiconductor vertical external-cavity surface emitting laser (OPS-VECSEL) has an important application in laser display. We constructed and optimized a 920 nm OPS-VECSEL with active region of In0.09Ga0.91As quantum well (QW) system pumped by 808 nm laser diode module. By the finite element method  self-consistent solutions of the semiconductor electronic and optical equations are realized to calculate the characteristics parameters of OPS-VECSEL. The performances of device especially the mode  the threshold and the optical-optical translation efficiency were analyzed by dealing with different number of QWs (1  2 and 3) in one period  QW depth  barrier width  the component and dimension of the non-absorption layer. We chose an improved structure of them. On this basis  we ameliorated the number of QW periods and the simulation showed that in order to obtain high performance device  the choice of the number of QW periods must be cautious. There exist complex gray mapping relationships among infrared and visible images because of the different imaging mechanisms. The difficulty of infrared and visible image registration is to find a reasonable similarity definition. In this paper, we develop a novel image similarity called implicit linesegment similarity(ILS) and a registration algorithm of infrared and visible images based on ILS. Essentially, the algorithm achieves image registration by aligning the corresponding line segment features in two images. First, we extract line segment features and record their coordinate positions in one of the images, and map these line segments into the second image based on the geometric transformation model. Then we iteratively maximize the degree of similarity between the line segment features and correspondence regions in the second image to obtain the model parameters. The advantage of doing this is no need directly measuring the gray similarity between the two images. We adopt a multi-resolution analysis method to calculate the model parameters from coarse to fine on Gaussian scale space. The geometric transformation parameters are finally obtained by the improved Powell algorithm. Comparative experiments demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can effectively achieve the automatic registration for infrared and visible images, and under considerable accuracy it makes a more significant improvement on computational efficiency and anti-noise ability than previously proposed algorithms.

A maskless nano-lithography method by using polystyrene spheres (PSs) self-assembled on silver slab (NSSL) was proposed in [optics express  Vol. 16  No. 19 (2008) 14397]. Following that  to break the limitations in resolution and PSs period of NSSL method  in this paper  we present PSs immersed super-resolution lithography (NSISL) technology by embedding the PSs into appropriate material to improve the efficiency of the surface plasmon excitation. The energy modulating mechanism and the rules of the resolution affected by silver slab were studied by calculating and analysing the energy distribution. The curve of the lithography resolution versus the silver thickness was presented. In order to verify this method  contrast analysis was carried out with NSSL. The results show that the lithography resolution is improved efficiently. Taking a specific configuration with PS diameter of 600nm as an example  the resolution was improved to 54nm from 190nm with Ag thickness of 25nm. Based on the calculation results  we carried out the experiments. Nano holes with dimension of 75nm and period of 600nm were obtained. 2012 IEEE.

A classical joint transform correlator (JTC) usually yields large correlation sidelobes as well as a large correlation peak width  strong zero-order peak  and low diffraction efficiency  which make the detection ability of JTC lower. To overcome these difficulties  firstly  a joint power spectrum (JPS) subtraction technique in Fourier plane was proposed  where reference image power spectrum and object image power spectrum are subtracted from the JPS before inverse Fourier-transform operation  it is obvious that the modified JPS removes the zero-order term. Secondly  a fringe-adjusted filter (FAF) was presented to suppress sidelobes and noises. The modified JPS is multiplied by a FAF before the inverse Fourier-transform operation to obtain the cross-correlation peak. Computer simulations demonstrated the improved method can obviously remove zero-order diffraction and effectively suppress the sidelobes and noises compared with classic JTC  and then improve the detection ability for JTC. Experimental results presented the sharp correlation peak and also confirmed the method effectiveness. (2012) Trans Tech Publications  Switzerland.

The remote sensing camera in large field and wide cover needs CCD with enough pixels. But the existing CCD cannot satisfy the practical needs. Therefore several pieces of CCD which has insufficient pixels are spliced to get a long CCD array with plenty of pixels. The precision requirements of CCD splicing are very strict  so that the same high accuracies are required in the precision detection of CCD splicing. When detecting precision of CCD splicing  the graphical markers with simple geometric structure in the CCD package are selected as templates. The position precision data of the graphical markers in each CCD are obtained using the template matching algorithm. Using the unified objective templates  the focal plane which has multi-chip of CCD is detected by template matching algorithm. Experiment results show that the template matching algorithm can enhance the located precision of each CCD to 0.347m. The splicing precision detection with template matching algorithm can avoid the subjective error caused by the conventional detection method. And its results are more accurate. In addition  without manual intervention in the process of precision detection  the efficiency of precision detection is improved. 2011 IEEE.
