The imaging measurement system must be calibrated before application. In calibration procedure
sub-pixel center extraction is the crucial step for the final accuracy. In this paper
a new sub-pixel extraction method is proposed. Edge detection at pixel level is obtained using LOG operator
then sub-pixel edge detection is realized using the Facet model. Finally
the least squares ellipse fitting is operated on the sub-pixel edge to determine the sub-pixel center. Experiment on a series of simulated images indicates that this algorithm is able to realize the center location accuracy of 0.01-0.02 pixel
and meets the requirement of sub-pixel level. (2012) Trans Tech Publications

In order to determination of cholesterol in human serum with no reagent using nearinfrared (NIR) spectroscopy. Interval partial least square (iPLS) was proposed as an effective variable selection approach for multivariate calibration. For this purpose
an independent sample set was employed to evaluate the prediction ability of the resulting model. The spectrum was split into different interval. Then
the informative region of cholesterol (1688-1760nm)
in which the PLS model has a low RMSEP with 0.241mmol/L and a high R with 0.975
is selected with 23 intervals. The results indicate that
the informative region of cholesterol can be obtained by iPLS and applied to design the simpler reagentless NIR instruments for inexpensive cholesterol measurement in future. (2012) Trans Tech Publications

In order to overcome the irradiance responsivity calibration troubles caused by the weak response of most spectral radiometers in ultraviolet band and poor ratio of signal to noise
and to meet special calibration condition for some remote sensing spectroradiometers in space
a spectral irradiance responsivity calibration unit based on parallel light illumination mode is established
it is composed of a 150W deuterium lamp and a spherical mirror. The calibration unit gets the output standard value of spectral irradiance by irradiance transfer
this way avoids the spectral reflectance measurement difficulty of the spherical mirror. A flight spectral radiometer model used for space remote sense was calibrated in range from 160nm to 300nm
the calibration error of spectral irradiance responsivity is 4.7%. Some factors which contribute to calibration uncertainties are discussed.
