920 nm optically pumped semiconductor vertical external-cavity surface emitting laser (OPS-VECSEL) has an important application in laser display. We constructed and optimized a 920 nm OPS-VECSEL with active region of In0.09Ga0.91As quantum well (QW) system pumped by 808 nm laser diode module. By the finite element method  self-consistent solutions of the semiconductor electronic and optical equations are realized to calculate the characteristics parameters of OPS-VECSEL. The performances of device especially the mode  the threshold and the optical-optical translation efficiency were analyzed by dealing with different number of QWs (1  2 and 3) in one period  QW depth  barrier width  the component and dimension of the non-absorption layer. We chose an improved structure of them. On this basis  we ameliorated the number of QW periods and the simulation showed that in order to obtain high performance device  the choice of the number of QW periods must be cautious. In order to solve the problem of high non-uniformity of LED display images which is caused by the edges of LED display panel during module splicing  transitional compensation algorithm is proposed by improving the existed correction technique named the correction technique based on CCD. First  introduce the three development stages of the LED display panel. Then  the realization progress of the transitional compensation algorithm is described in detail after elaborating the principle of transitional compensation. Finally  the algorithm is emplaned in a LED video control system to control the LED display panel whose display area is 1280960  and which is spliced by 3020 LED modules whose size are 6432. Experimental results show that this algorithm is able to reduce non-uniformity of LED display images from 29.3% before correcting to 0.95%. (2012) Trans Tech Publications  Switzerland.

In order to improve the resolution and enhance the impact resistance and vibration resistance of encoders  a novel absolute metal rotary encoder based on Single-track Periodic Gray Code is presented. The configuration and working principle of the encoder is introduced  and then the metal code disc which can realize full scale absolute encoding on one single track and its corresponding metal slit disc are proposed. Finally  the data acquisition and processing system based on FPGA of encoder is presented. The resolution of the encoder can reach 5.27through electronic subdivision and calibration between the precision code and the coarse code with its volume only 4840mm. The encoder has some advantages such as small volume  low cost  high resolution and strong impact resistance. 2012 IEEE.
